2012 ROP Girls summer camp is in planning. After last year's dry run, we are anticipating a much smoother process. A major change to the program is that instead of 7 days of rustic camping, we will only go for 5 days (Sunday to Thursday). We are projecting a group of 30 participants for a total intervention of 150 girls during the 5 weeks of camp.
The program is filled with activities to address problem situations, and offer prevention tools. Some of the topics covered in this year's program as listed itinerary are Safe Date, Anti-Bullying, Attacking Depression and Anxiety, College Preparation, Study skills improvement, Accountability, high school violence, drug and alcohol prevention, peer mentoring, visioning, and much more. The program incorporates workshops with activities to encourage dialogue, such as role-playing, as well as theme movies. Daily exercise such as volleyball, along with breathing, meditation and yoga is included in the curriculum for a balanced and invigorating experience.
