About Us
This program was founded in 2003 when I began realizing the dire need for wellness all around us in society that was left shaken in the wake of 9/11. The organization started as a holistic wellness retreat program catering to adults. Teaching Health and Science at an inner city high school in Los Angeles, California quickly brought awareness to a need for programs to support and aid adolescent girls during those most critical years from 13 and 17. This is where the rites of passage theme sprung into conception. I recruited a group of dedicated shareholders who saw the vision and we eagerly formed our team to bring it to manifestation.
The Girls Summer Camp is a comprehensive program that targets young girls who are at risk of falling through the cracks. The curriculum uses a holistic health approach, with workshops focusing on critical areas of prevention and growth for this target group. This is a comprehensive five-day program geared towards girls of the above-mentioned age group, who commit to a transformation experience for 7 days and 6 nights. The program is designed to challenge participants to make positive changes in their lives, and to be convicted and confident as they step forward into society to make a difference in their communities.
What do we mean by at-risk teens?
This program uses guidelines from Broward Children Services Council, which identifies at-risk children by any of the following criteria:
